“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” - Albert Einstein
Throughout my academic career in Turkey, Germany, and the United States, I have had the privilege of learning from some of the greatest minds in their respective fields. These unique cultures facilitated a rich environment for me to cherish diverse perspectives, maintain a curious mindset for learning, and experience the fulfillment of sharing knowledge with others. The intellectually stimulating nature of these experiences made it a rather easy decision to seek a career that has education at its core. Accordingly, my goals in teaching are to inspire curiosity about my subject, get to know the students well while encouraging diverse viewpoints, and to motivate my students to find practical applications of the material in a real-world setting.
I taught nine undergraduate-level Marketing Research courses at Robinson College of Business, Georgia State University with in-person, online, and hybrid modes.

Teaching this course in particular provided me with some unique challenges since the students are typically not familiar with using statistical methods to conduct data analysis. I am able to effectively introduce these methods from the basics while providing current examples of how companies are using data analysis in their day-to-day routines, including from my own industry experience. To further my students’ appreciation of practical implications, I hosted industry experts as guest speakers from the Coca-Cola Company in beverages, Delta Airlines in travel, Hanes and Onward Reserve in apparel, the Home Depot in home improvement, Seismic in software, and SunTrust in financial services.
Juanita Velez, lead program manager of international social media strategy at Delta Airlines, sharing her career success story.
Alex Surin of the Home Depot is walking students through his regular day as a data scientist.
My extensive experience teaching this course and the methodological tools covered have provided me with the skillset to teach more advanced methods courses such as marketing analytics. As I embark on the next phase of my career, I am truly excited to have the opportunity to contribute to the marketing society through both conducting relevant research and creating valuable learning experiences for my students.
